Erland recently completed construction of Ocular Therapeutix Inc.’s new headquarters in Bedford, Massachusetts. Ocular Therapeutix, Inc. is a biopharmaceutical company focused on the development, manufacturing and commercialization of innovative therapies for diseases and conditions of the eye. Erland previously completed an office build-out for Covidien in this same location and partnered with architect TRIA Inc. to get the job done. This partially occupied renovation of a 3-story, 70,000sf building was completed in just 9 months. The client was occupying two clean rooms and a lab on the building’s third floor throughout the duration of the project. Erland was required to procure a certificate of occupancy for the space, build temporary partitions, and identify a life safety plan with a safe means of egress in order to complete these renovations. After a lengthy permit process, a complete gut of all three floors was conducted. The updated space now houses six new ISO 7 and 8 cleanrooms in addition to open and private offices, conference rooms, a lunch/meeting room and main lobby staircase. Erland also installed a new 250 KW optional standby gas-fired generator.
