Building on legacy.

Erland was founded in 1977 under the leadership of Kenneth Erland Froeberg, who saw an opportunity to bring cost-effective, high-quality construction solutions to the suburban marketplace. His belief in honest communication, practical problem-solving, and long-term relationships laid the foundation for the company we are today.

One of Erland’s earliest partnerships—with Nordblom—set the tone for how we approach every relationship. Together, we helped transform Northwest Park into a thriving office and R&D destination. Decades later, that partnership endures, a testament to the trust and collaboration that define our work.

Leadership transitioned after Kenneth’s passing in 1983, first to Bob McDonald, then to Steve McDonald, and now to Sean McDonald, marking three generations of continuous leadership committed to our founding values. Each chapter expanded our capabilities, deepened our expertise, and strengthened our culture.

In 2022, Erland became an employee-owned company, ensuring every team member has a personal stake in our success. Ownership amplified our culture of accountability, collaboration, and pride—cementing the idea that when our people grow, our company grows.

Through every milestone, one thing has remained constant:

We treat our clients, employees, and trade partners like family—building trust through collaboration and doing what’s right.

This philosophy has guided us since our inception and will continue to shape our next chapter.
