Springfield College selected Erland, in collaboration with SMMA, to renovate the Kresge Gymnasium, home to the college’s gymnastics program. The practice facility underwent a 7,965sf refresh, including the addition of an in-ground foam pit system that enhances both training effectiveness and safety for the athletes. The gymnasium is located within an occupied athletics building on campus. New lighting, doors, and glazing were installed throughout the facility. Erland was required to saw-cut and excavate the existing slab to place the necessary footings for the foam pit. The revitalized space also received a fresh coat of paint. This was Erland’s eighth project with Springfield College.
