Teaming with Stephen Jablonski Architects, Erland performed renovations to Judd Gymnasia – the oldest building on Springfield’s campus and home to the original YMCA center. The rehab of this
125-year old building is now known as the Stitzer YMCA Center. The 39,350sf building received a total makeover, including a complete overhaul of the HVAC and MEP systems. A new entrance and elevator make it handicap accessible. It is home to a museum of the college’s history, the YMCA Hall of Fame, the Office of YMCA Relations, YMCA club recreational programs, the college archives, and multi-purpose space. This project marks the third time Erland has worked on the Springfield College campus.
