The new Snyder Center at Phillips Academy was built on an extremely sloped site adjacent to the school’s football field that remained in use throughout construction. A soil retention system was used to safeguard against collapse. The new field house includes three basketball courts surrounded by an indoor track, 12 squash courts — 11 regulation and one tournament grade court with viewing deck; and specialty flooring for each purpose. The Snyder Center is the fifth project Erland has done on the Phillips Academy campus and received LEED Platinum certification.
