Northeast Document Conservation Center (NEDCC)

Owner: Northeast Document Conservation Center (NEDCC)

Andover, MA

The Northeast Document Conservation Center (NEDCC) selected Erland Construction, in collaboration with Cresa and Samuel Anderson Architects, to fit out its new 23,500sf headquarters at 600 Federal Street in Andover, MA. This highly specialized renovation created a modern office and document preservation facility designed to meet NEDCC’s exacting standards for conservation. The scope of work included the construction of an open conservation lab, a color toning station, chemical storage areas, individual offices, libraries, a break room, acoustical control rooms, an imaging studio, and a secure preservation vault. With a heavy emphasis on MEP systems, particularly HVAC and humidity controls, Erland ensured that all spaces met the strict environmental requirements necessary to support NEDCC’s mission of safeguarding historically significant documents, artwork, and audiovisual materials. Operational continuity was a key focus for this project. Erland coordinated closely with NEDCC to implement a detailed relocation plan that ensured imaging and treatment labs were fully operational upon move-in. Environmental systems were carefully integrated to maintain precise conservation conditions from day one. This was the first partnership between Erland and NEDCC, and the team was proud to support the Center’s critical work by delivering a facility that would serve its mission well into the future.
