Meeting & Performance Hall at The Fenn School

Owner: The Fenn School

Concord, MA

Situated in the center of the campus, The Fenn School’s new 16,000sf Meeting and Performance Hall features a 458-seat theater, classroom space, multi-purpose areas, and a large meeting room. The steel-frame/wood-infill building, with its functional basement, was built over a high water table, which required an elaborate dewatering system during foundation construction and a permanent underground pump to monitor water in the functional basement on an ongoing basis. The seating in the theater is made of steamed European beech wood; beech panels also outline the walls and balcony. Project architect, Imai Keller Moore, and AKF Engineers designed the MEP systems for minimal noise intrusion. This new hall can accommodate the entire student body at one time for programs, performances, and assemblies.
