Springfield College selected Erland and Amenta Emma Architects for the construction of a new 2,000-square-foot multi-use facility, the Bugbee Family Pavilion. This distinctive facility, situated alongside Stagg Field, was designed to serve as a hub for athletic events and paid homage to Coach Keith Bugbee, G’84, his family, and his lasting legacy in the men’s lacrosse program. Crafted with metal panel siding, a storefront armor wall glazing system, and vented double-paned glass, the pavilion included a donor wall and a special feature named “Lindsay’s Lookout,” an elevated viewing platform dedicated to Coach Bugbee’s daughter. Erland relocated existing underground utilities to support the new building’s infrastructure. The Bugbee Family Pavilion became a focal point before, during, and after all athletic events held at Stagg Field. In addition to its primary function as a spectator area, the pavilion served various purposes, including team instruction, film review, classes, meetings, and conferences, making it a versatile and integral part of Springfield College’s athletic and educational initiatives. This was Erland’s seventh project with Springfield College.
